My friends think I have the best job in the world. Honestly, it’s hard to disagree with them. If you chat with anybody from sales in the craft brewing industry, they’ll likely mention the great people they work with and share stories about fun events they’ve enjoyed along the way. You’ll probably sense the pride they have in their brand, and feel the camaraderie that comes with it. They have an obvious passion for various beer styles and a sense of purpose that’s driven by a desire to have their consumers experiment with and love all of the wonderful diversity that the world of beer can offer them.
So, what do myself and the rest of the Cowbell family love about our jobs?
I’ve never worked harder, or lived and breathed a role more — there is so much to love about working at Cowbell. A lot of this is related to our simple mantra of “Do The Right Thing.”
The idea for Cowbell Brewing Co. was born through the Sparling family’s desire to support the growth and economic development of Blyth and Huron County. We talk regularly about the importance of creating a “rising tide” and investing in the community. The Sparlings’ vision, ambition, and courage is going to create one of the most exciting destination craft breweries in North America, and complement the strong principles and values upon which it was founded.
The Greener Pastures Community Fund: How Cowbell Gives Back
Indeed, our belief in contributing to communities extends beyond our family roots to wherever we do business. This is why we have created the Greener Pastures Community Fund, a series of funds designed around distinct geographical regions in Ontario. It has been a challenge to decide on what geographical boundary constitutes a community, and which great cause we choose to support when there are so many options.
Currently, we have divided the province into 25 regions. Five cents from the sale of every can and pint sold in these regions will be donated to a specific fund in that region. A nickel might not seem like a lot, but based on our sales projections, we will be able to make a meaningful difference to many great causes.
How You Can Help Your Community
We will be working with our customers in each of the regions to help guide our decisions on local charity partners. Although this initiative is still in its early days, I’m proud to share that we are partnering with the McMaster Children’s Hospital in the Hamilton and Burlington region on an exciting project, the details of which will be announced soon. Stay tuned!
We will share more updates as the local funds and our charitable partnerships are developed. Be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to keep up to date on Cowbell’s charitable partnerships in your community, and how you can get involved!
I sell incredible beer and work with great people, while at the same time being able to make a positive difference in my community. I really do have the best job in the world!
