Our Story

As with any new venture, the Cowbell story began with a dream.

In 2016, a bold idea began taking shape on more than 120 acres of farmland in Huron County: to create something unlike anything else in Canadian craft brewing.

The vision was bigger than a brewery. It would be a destination — a place rooted in its rural surroundings, where great beer, food and hospitality could bring people together. From the beginning, it was imagined as welcoming, accessible, sustainable and deeply connected to the community it calls home.

And in true Huron County fashion, bringing that vision to life began with a good, old-fashioned barn raising. Inspired by the agricultural heritage of the region, Cowbell was built to feel at home in the landscape — ambitious in scale, but unmistakably rural Ontario at heart.

Today, that original vision is Cowbell Country — a place to gather, celebrate, eat, drink and experience a little of what makes this corner of Ontario so special. Built in Huron County. Inspired by our surroundings. Made to welcome everyone.

We Acknowledge

Cowbell Brewing Co. and its employees would like to recognize, with respect and gratitude, that we are on the ancestral traditional territories of the Anishinaabe (Ah-ni-shin-ah-beh), Haudenosaunee (hoh-den-oh-show-nee), and Neutral peoples included in the Huron Tract Treaty.

We recognize the Dish with One Spoon Treaty of this territory, in which the “dish” represents the land that is to be shared peacefully and the “spoon” represents the individuals living on and using the resources of the land in the spirit of peace, friendship, and respect.

This acknowledgment is part of a larger process that we are undertaking, as individuals and as an organization, towards reconciliation between Indigenous & non-Indigenous peoples in our day-to-day lives.

Sustainability

Sustainability has been part of Cowbell’s vision from the beginning. From how we brew and package our beverages to how we use water and energy, we’re continually looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact. For us, it’s also about being a good steward of the land we call home — respecting its agricultural roots, caring for it responsibly today, and protecting it for generations to come.
